We are a nonprofit dedicated to the practice and preservation of Guardian Art-Art of the Hero, a wild spiritual self-defense discipline grounded in the wilderness of our sacred teachings from our Indigenous ancestors to ignite skills and abilities of one’s wildest dreams.
Through cultural preserves and outreach programs, we are empowering youth from First Nation-Native American communities, rural, and other underserved youth throughout North and South America.
Our work guides young people to strengthen body and spirit, reconnect with nature and their heritage from the stars, and create the next generation of leaders of Earth. Our dream is to expand throughout the globe and have the next generation use these ancestral gifts to build a future in which all people—and our earth—thrive.

Founder
Great Owl Lightning is the Trustee for Guardian Art Ministry and is the Executive Director for the Guardian Saga Foundation. He is a hereditary Chief of the Lightning Clan of the Anishinabek Nation and a Citizen of Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation. He is a native speaker of the Anishinaabemowin language, and is the Bundle Keeper of the Guardian Art. Great Owl has had a number of influential indigenous teachers and mentors, but none more so than his grandmother – Irene Hummingbird Woman, a highly regarded clan Mother of the Aninshinabek Nation. As the Bundle Keeper of Guardian Art, Great Owl opened the first Guardian Art school in 2001 has been teaching youth across USA and Canada, as well as developing curriculum, and running not-for-profit outreach programs and workshops for youth in tribal communities throughout North & South America.
